The same thing seems to be dialectal in German, too. I use 'nächsten Freitag' for 'friday next week' and simply 'Freitag' for either 'on friday' (the next day that happens to be a friday) or for 'last friday' if the sentence is in the past tense. However, most people around were I now live use it differently and this is confusing both them and me. **Henrik
