Hello all.
A while ago when this topic was going around, someone cited the word hyaku,
Japanese for "hundred" as an occurence of the /hj/ sound, but said that he
or she couldn't find any native instances of the combination "hyu" to begin
a word other than the loan word "hyuuzu" for fuse.
Quite recently I was looking at a Japanese railway map and noted the name
of a place in Tokyo called Hyuuga, written with the Kanji characters "sun"
and "facing". It's a strange word not read using the normal pronounciation.
Just in case anyone was wondering.
