French had it in coda position before another consonnant (but generally the
resulting /w/ then disappeared by monophtongation, resulting only in a change of
quality of the previous vowel). For example:
Latin ALBA -> aube /ob/
Latin ALMA -> âme /am/ (this one's strange, the circumflex would account for a
written form *asma?)
Germanic HELM (English helmet) -> heaume /om/

"Roumant" has the change /l/ -> /u/, written <ou> (yes, the vowel, not the
semi-vowel) in all coda positions:
QUALIS -> cuêou /'kE.u/ (hiatus or diphtongue, but <ou> is never <w>)
APRILIS -> aprêou
ALTUS -> âout
