Well, then it would come from VL veclus, vecleris? Then I think the "Roumant" form would look more like Italian than French and Spanish in this case (or maybe not, I wonder how a final /kl/ cluster would evolve... Maybe it would still bring a /S/ somewhere...). Christophe.
