I forgot to mention complicating circumstances. In cases where a word starts with a consonant followed by l, as in _mlita'_ (fat), -la- is added between the consonant and the l, thus _mlalita'_ (fattest), and -tu- has an epenthetic -a- added before the t, and is added after the consonant, thus _matulita'_ (fatter) In cases of Cw or Cy, the glide is vocalized and p (from -tw-) and -la- is added after it, thus kwita' (brave) becomes kupita' (braver) and kulaita' (bravest). In cases of CaV, -tu- becomes -p- (from -tw-), but -la- is unchanges, thus sauta' (heavy) becomes saputa' (heavier) and salauta' (heaviest) -- Happy that Nation, - fortunate that age, whose history is not diverting -- Benjamin Franklin http://members.tripod.com/~Nik_Taylor/X-Files/ http://members.tripod.com/~Nik_Taylor/Books.html ICQ #: 18656696 AIM screen-name: NikTailor
