   Join if you wany to have a say in what happens,
how, and various langauge features, whether you're
going to daughterlang or not. Don't join if you only
want to watch, and don't want to say anything about
how it will happen.

  Sounds fine to me. If you want to have a say about
the beginning details, you should join now. Otherwise,
you might be happier and waiting to join a way down
the road from now.
