A sound change affected final /k/. Now, one letter represents /k/ or, when final, /x/. Could the /x/ pronunciation be preserved regardless of inflections? For instance, arc- "bear" is pronounced /arx/, but would arca "bear (nom)" be /arxa/? Wright
