I've been pushing silently for the switch for a long time, though I agree
it will not happen.  However, I think the metric system has an honorary
position in education, because I remember using centimeters often in
Geometry.  Also, most rulers have both inches and centimeters while
I'm sure European rulers and those from anywhere else do not have
inches (not even for the little oddball that likes to think of itself as the
most powerful country, whether or not the claim is substantiated
(and yes I do realize that last statement might be flamigajxo)).
