Well, obviously. :)
The goal of the proposal was just to create one more item of common
ground, a celebration of Easter on a date that is neither the result
of Papist meddling (and therefore palatable to the Eastern church)
nor an archaic holdover from less enlightened times (and therefore
palatable to the West). Note that I'm putting each side in terms of the
other; don't try to read my personal feelings into this. :)
Anyway, I don't think anyone had any illusions about the east and
west unifying into a single church or anything. :)
