It's not calculated. The First Seder is always in the evening next to the 14th of Nisan. As for the number of months (12 or 13) and length of some of them (29 or 30), we get 6 combinations and therefore 6 lengths of the year, from 352 to 384 days. The extra month occurs 7 times in a 19-year cycle. The extra days are added so that Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement) could not fall on Friday or Sunday -- it's too difficult to keep sabbath restrictions two days in line :) -- Yitzik
