This is where it's good to say where "around here" is when you give a pronunciation. Around my way, we'd say 'data is' as /de:d@Iz/, being from New York, but not the city. (I'd guess everyone knows that New York is in the USA.) I'm curious, though, what /#/ represents. I've downloaded the X-SAMPA IPA chart, and I don't see # anywhere on it. Joe Fatula
