Thanks for all the replies; I'm getting set to try some things out.

At my disposal I have:

Mac OSX:

Nisus Writer
Pages 2
AppleWorks
Preview
Adobe Acrobat Reader
Adobe Acrobat*
MS Word 2004
TextEdit

Windows:

MS Word
Adobe Acrobat Reader

I don't have a printer that can print double-sided, which means
I'm going to have to use the printer on campus, which is connected
to a PC. I was figuring if I could get it formatted correctly, I'd turn
it into a .pdf then print that.

This I'm afraid my version doesn't have.

The reason I wanted to use two columns is because I have it
formatted very specifically. This is a small chapter book for my
little sister, and I wanted to make the font large (14 pt), and also
leave space for illustrations. When I leave it as is and print two
pages per sheet, everything gets shrunk far too much.

I'm trying right now to turn it into a .pdf to see what happens...

No, that doesn't quite work. Bah. Maybe if I increase the font
size to 28 pt it'll come out looking like 14 pt when it gets shrunk...

Incidentally, I've seen the printing features for .pdf on the PC.
We don't have *nearly* as many options on the Mac. <grumble,
grumble...>
