And when Mexican troops attacked the US troops, who were, after all, in
MEXICAN territory, it was claimed that Mexico had invaded! Abraham
Lincoln, a congressman at the time, was supposed to be the only one who
asked WHERE exactly the American troops were when the Mexicans attacked,
and for that he was ridiculed.
