Well, I wouldn't put German or any other close relatives of English high on
my list of pleasant-sounding languages. Some of the nicest-sounding
languages to my ear are Welsh, Portuguese, Finnish, Hungarian, and the
former Serbo-Croatian. I don't care much for the sound of Thai or
Vietnamese. Japanese is fun to listen to, and has a lot of expressive
character, but I wouldn't call it beautiful.
