A precursor list, it would seem, appeared in "Studies out in left field:
defamatory essays presented to James D. McCawley, on the occasion of his
33rd or 34th birthday", 1971.  A thorough delight.

In about that same era, students in the Michigan dept. were compiling a list
of pithy sayings (a la "Swifties") such as:

I think I'll go lie in the sun, she said in Basque.

Here's a nice cut of meat, said the butcher in Dogrib.
and so on.  I lost the list long ago, but y'all can carry on.........
