SAMPA is the ASCII version of the IPA (it allows you to represent the IPA
in email).
for instance, IIRC, spanish vowels have the IPA values of: /a/, /e/, /i/,
/o/, /u/ (more or less).
my middle name would be written as: /dZejmz/ - James
