I know for me, my mother once said if they cuffed me or cut of
my hands, I could not talk.
Gestures adding to the verbal, or the verbal an expression of
the gesture or some place in between?
I know for me, it was a way to express anxiety at times, to
allow me to speak, but yes, times it helped with the topic.
Short hand in some cases..
Examples: Well, ever had the fun of flipping some one off, or
better yet, telling some one to "kiss my ass" yes, the whole
effort can be done non-verbally, with a combo of eye look,
situation and gesture/slapping on butt..
I know the last job that I quit, the usage words and gesture was
part of the whole message.
