Wow, what a great translation exercise. I made up some context for this line to help me intuit how it would be phrased in mërèchi (derived verbs, or standalone? relative clause or not? etc). Didn't bother trying to find out the original context :) So this is from some speech made by a wacko mërèchi splinter group: àn nacüaràn kepfà tòrisöp'të. líaclia, të kàlicia, të màtar lahütëfàp'të. tòria'c ki'màtanikë'fa! à nàcüar kàsë na-matanikfàv'n - màtar k'èsöp'n. Interlinear (NOM means nominalizer, not nominative): 'an nakwar-'an kEp-'fa 'tOri-so -p -te DEF enemy -pl to -1p three-be-IMP-3p The enemies to us are three. 'liakli-a te 'kaliki-a te 'matar lahute-'fa -p -te old -NOM CONJ sick -NOM CONJ death call -PASS-IMP-3p age and sickness and death they are called. 'tOri -a -k ki- 'matanik-e -fa three -NOM-ACC FUT-destroy-PRF-1p (This) triad we will destroy! 'a 'nakwar 'kase na- matanik-'fa -v -n DEF enemy last REL-destroy-PASS-PRF-3sn The enemy last which will be destroyed - 'matar k- 'eso-p -n death FUT-COP -IMP-3pn death it will be. tylakèhlpë'fö, Amanda
