Well, you said "It takes a straight mind to create a twisted conlang", which immediately echoed the very well known (in this country) slogan of the Perdue Chicken company, "It takes a tough man to make a tender chicken". Unlike most corporations, the ads for this company are (or were) actually narrated by the founder of the company, Frank Perdue. (According to legend, this chicken slogan got dreadfully mangled in Spanish, coming out "It takes a hard man to arouse a chicken" or something of the sort. Take this cum grano salis.) And then my mind was running on military matters for some reason, and the "franc-tireur/enfant-perdu" hybrid naturally arose in it. -- John Cowan jcowan@reutershealth.com www.ccil.org/~cowan www.reutershealth.com "If I have seen farther than others, it is because I am surrounded by dwarves." --Murray Gell-Mann
