With all this talk about genealogy I feel I should expand a little on
my origin as well. I'm not as "pure" as I seem to indicate on the
survey. At least I have Swedes and Finns among my ancestors. My
mother's line has been traced (not by me) down to a Swede in the 15th
century. I have traced my father's line down to a Swedish immigrant
in the 16th century, who probably was of Finnish descent. Due to him
and his fellow immigrants, the first name Finn became rather popular
in my family, but it didn't stick as a surname until the 19th
century. Then there is this mysterious traveller who sired my
paternal grandmother before he travelled on, and whose origin I
haven't been able to trace so far. Shouldn't be impossible I guess,
with some effort. I actually would be proud if he were a Romany,
though these people still are despised by many here.
