From the replies yet, there does not seem to be a consensus on the origin of
_ui in adjectives. In _annui_, David Salo thinks it to be form older
_-uuyaa_ (the whole PE word being *anduuyaa). In other cases it may be from
_-aayaa_, the origin of Quenya _-ea_. However, this requires final _aai_ to
change differently from _aai_ in other positions or as the only vowel of a
word, where it becomes _oe_ (eg _gaayaa_>_gaai_>_goe). They agree that
_-ooyaa_ is possible origin too, which does good for my ego!
