My Nakiltipkaspimak has [G] as an allophone of /x/
before back vowels. Now, there are only three vowels
in Pimak, /a u i/, and /a/ is considered a back vowel,
plus it's by far the most common vowel, which means that the realization [G] is way
more common than [x].
Hmm. I guess this means that it's rather /G/ which is
the actual phoneme and [x] merely an allophone. But
isn't it kinda odd to have /G/ but not /x/ in a language?
