When I was in Rome years ago I went into a church in search of one. I was
met by a priest who looked like "what on earth does he want *here*?" In
that instance I didn't remember the Italian word, so I thought priests
should know Latin, and said "Ubine latrina est?" Quoth the priest: "Ach
so, dass ist da drueben!" (pointing) Guess everybody who looked like
hailing from north of the Alps was a German to him!
