Vogu does exactly that (actually, usually an entire syllable).
I have only 6 main divisions: animate neuter, animate male,
animate female, concrete, abstract and collective. Within each
major division are suffixes with specific semantic properties
(eg. applies to long, thin things, applies to bad things,
applies to manufactured articles, etc.). The major
divisions are indicated in the Grammar on my website, but
the finer distinctions exist only on paper.
