A Finnish descendant

Hi!

Been reading about Finnish at Wikipedia
(<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finnish_language>), and I thought it might be
neat to create a descendant of Finnish. It would be fun to take Estonian's
mutation of Finnish much further... and then add some features from other
languages. Perhaps this descendant of Finnish could be spoken way in the
future, after some sort of revolution or epidemic, when alot of people died
and humans became hunter-gatherers again, and Finland was invaded, and so
the invaders' language influenced the conlang. But then I would have to make
another conlang, the language of the invaders. Sounds like fun :D

Anyone have suggestions of how I could mutate Finnish into something new?
Reducing diphthongs is IMHO a good starting point, but I'm not r'ly sure
what those diphthongs could turn into...
