Actually it differs. According to my German book on phonology
some Germans have bilabial [p\] and [B] for /f/ and /v/;
for them [p_p\] is obviously a simple affricate. Still others have a
labiodental
[p_d] (MY ad-hoc transcription, since it looks somewhat nice in HTML-IPA! :)
uniquely in the affricate which is (brace yourselves for the ugly
transcription!:)
[p_d_p\] for them. Still others have simply merged /p_f/ with /f/. I doubt
there is a residue who actually have bilabial [p] + labiodental [f], but
unsworn
is best!
