Yes it does, because only your second example counts for deciding whether your
language is syntactically accusative or ergative. Your first example is
definitely a case of unmarked relative subclause.

LOL. OK, the language is definitely accusative. It has all the syntactic
symptoms. The object promotion is just, as I said, a case of unmarked relative
subclause.
