I would rather disagree. [1] is a pretty specific sound, and you may find its
representation as "Yeru" not only in Russian, but in Byelorussian too. Also
ex-USSR Turkic and Mongolic langs use it for sounds like [1], [}] or [u-]
(Card.v.16). I saw it in Tatar, Bashkert, Chuvash, Buryat, Kalmyk, Uzbek,
Kyrghyz &c. E.g. Uzbek кырк /kırk [qu-rq] 'forty' :-)
