My environment says "Es regnet Bindfäden". Or just
(classmates), "Es pisst" (It's pissing). Quite often, you
can hear "Es regnet wie aus Eimern/Kübeln" as well.
"Es regnet in Strömen" is common as well, although to me
it sounds rather bookish.
