Are you sure it's irrecoverable? When my psion series 3 dropped, the
screen broke, but I could still (by checking every keypress with
another psion) backup the contents to another computer. (Of course, I
then proceeded to blithely wipe the hard-disk of that computer, a few
months later, but that's another story.)
