Well, it's time for my official comeback, so here it is! :)))
Hi everyone!
After one week of exhausting holidays (three family visits, an evening in the
restaurant, and the afternoon to visit around to show my place of birth and
growth to my boyfriend made them quite busy :))) . And I had forgotten that
French people eat so much !!! ;))) ), I'm back in The Hague, and slowly getting
back to business :)) .
As for conlanging, unfortunately the week was too busy to do much (although
I've had time to nearly finish with the numerals in Maggel), although I made it
up by a good buy: I bought myself a calligraphy initiation book with a few pens
included, in order to teach myself a bit of "beautiful writing". I find it will
be a nice thing to enhance my conscripts (especially the Roman alphabet used
for Maggel, which is strongly influenced by the Uncial. So I need to learn to
write the Uncial first :))) ). Now what I have to do is find a way to adapt the
method presented to my lefthandedness ;))) .
Not only that, but yesterday while shopping I also bought a very cheap program
with lessons to learn 35 languages (and nice languages are included in. Besides
the normal: French, German, Italian, Spanish, Dutch, we find the more exotic
but still common Arabic, Chinese, Hebrew, Hindi, Greek, Japanese, Russian,
Turkish, the less common Indonesian, Finnish, Hungarian, Polish, Rumanian,
Swahili, Korean, Bulgarian, Vietnamese, but also the rare - in terms of Teach
Yourself methods ;))) - Irish (Gaelic), Danish, Estonian, Farsi, Filipino,
Ukrainian, Thai, Zulu, etc...). The program itself is more about learning words
and made-up sentences, but it has a grammar part, a culture part about the
language itself and its speakers, and besides the normal recording and playing
of your own voice, a voice recogniser for some common languages to correct your
mistakes. I find it quite a good buy for only 8 Euros :) .
So as you see, this week was not completely unproductive :)) .
Christophe.
