Indeed true, but the Donation was the legal fiction that got the ball
rolling. Oddly the Irish historians who suggest that the Roman Catholic
Church was responsible for the invasion of Ireland are not popular
there......I wonder why ;-)
Anyway, as this is something that didn't happen in my world it doesn't
require me to provide and explanation, only that did happen.
