According to Jozsef Herman, it dissappeared in the Republican period,
before the Empire. But, when greek words with H were adopted into Latin,
the sound reappeared, and hypercorrections happened, such sas writing
holim for olim. And, some pretentious Romans who knew Greek would add it
in where it never really existed
