Yes, well... it seemed like a cool idea to have the Gargoyle language be connected with the words used for casting magic spells ... which already set the precedent of using worn-down faux Latin words. The original background idea for this was that the Gargoyle and Human languages were ultimately related by being derived from a common source, in the same way that Latin and English are related. You can think of it kind of like the way Old English was used in the Lord of the Rings. We know the Rohirrim didn't really speak Old English, but it was used to represent whatever language they did speak. Not the sort of language I would have designed from scratch, but it did have to fit into a pre-existing world without breaking the continuity TOO badly. Richard actually had the initial inspiration for the design of the alphabet, but I developed it and put the fonts together for it. And I did all the translations of the Gargish books and signs in the game, which of course were originally in English. -- languages of Azir------> ---<>--- hmiller (Herman Miller) "If all Printers were determin'd not to print any email password: thing till they were sure it would offend no body, \ "Subject: teamouse" / there would be very little printed." -Ben Franklin
