`Reply-to:' isn't set by the list (check the headers). Whether this
is a good or bad thing is quite the religious queation, try 'reply-to
munging' in your fav. search-engine for tons of views. Personally, I
think -not- munging reply-to is best, and doubly so for lists with
tons of traffic, the odd mail not reaching the list lowers traffic,
and the mails that aren't meant to go to the list won't easily do so
by accident.
If one want to insure taht all discussion stays public there's always
Usenet.
