Return from extended hiatus

Greetings all,
Some of those who've been on the list a while may
remember me.
Over a year ago I set the listserv's options to
"temporarily disable mailings" because I had too much
IRL chaos to have time to read all the emails.
At least one year, a child and a half and one
intercontinental move later, here I am again.
Life appears to be a little more settled now, and my
thoughts once again turn to language creation.
I have been keeping up with Franj, my Turco-French
conlang, and developing a lot of the alternate earth
in which it is spoken, but now I'm once again getting
inspired for something new.
Something that pushes a few boundaries.
Years ago, when a friend of mine and I were developing
alien races to populate a univerese we were playing
with, I had an idea for an alien conlang which worked
like Chinese characters: various radical elements are
combined to form words, and a lot of the grammar is
inferred from the combination of these elements and
some modifying particles.
Basically, I'm postulating a language without the
regular semantic classes of noun/verb/adjective etc.
It's not developed enough to post more than a glimpse;
things keep changing.
But I promise to post something on Karnuugaan (the
probable name of the lang) soon.
Geoff
