code-switching (was: Re: The Conlang Instinct)

I happen to code-switch a lot when I speak in French currently. It's
mostly because the only moments I speak French are with French people
working at the same place as me and fluent enough in English too, and
most of all when I'm talking of technical stuff, because everything here
about technical material is in English or Dutch. I just can't remember
the French equivalents! (I have the worst problems with set-up and
device. "appareil" just doesn't sound good for me :( ).

I remember also an anecdote that happened to me one month ago when I
was in holidays with my parents. I was talking to my sister and suddenly
I heard myself answering to her by a "of course!" instead of "bien su^r
!". And I nearly only swear in English now :) .
