Really, you ought to see if you can have a server-side lanugage like PHP
or Perl and either learn them or get a content management system. I'm
currently changing the way my webpage works and when I move a page, all I
need to do is (1) create a page which automatically redirects to the new
location so as not to break links, (2) change the URI on the old table of
contents and (3) change the URI in the new one (two separate ones because
I'm doing it over time). If I add a page, I just need to do the last two
until I've finished migrating everything.

Remarkably, it's disappeared. I dunno what you did, but it workt.

Actually not. You're using a Windows directory separator (\) on the
alphabet page; the Internet requires Unix ones (/). If that works under
Internet Explorer, I'm honestly surprised (I'm almost wondering if that
means that Windows is migrating to / as their directory separator if
they're currently treated identically but converted to / for net purposes.
Probably reading too much into it). At any rate, because of this, I'm
getting 404 for the letters.

Not really, the hard way is doing a paid-for page and losing your job
because of it :)
