My guess is that it's because it resonates with other verbs in -gle (wiggle,
snuggle, toggle, boggle, etc.). "Google" _already_ sounds like a verb, so
it's more natural to use it as one. "Vista" was already a noun, and
"Yahoo" an exclamation (and a noun), which probably influenced things.. And
nobody uses excite anyway ;)
