A Google search shows that "Arkansasan" is far more common than "Arkansawan",
but "Arkansan" is 100 times more common than either; www.m-w.com gives
[Ar'k&nz@n] as the only pronunciation, but that doesn't mean it is
used in Arkansas.
The Arkansas River, which flows though both Arkansas and Kansas, is
pronounced ['Ark@nsO] in Arkansas, but [Ar'k&nz@s] in Kansas.
