Actually it's quite appropriate that this thread is happening now...
I wrote a nice-looking conworld artifact in calligraphic script and drew a
picture of a perching bird on it. In fact, I felt it was good enough to put
in my room, to admire daily (it's not really that good ;)
But just a while after being there, my mother came into my room and spotted
it, barraging me with questions and observations about it "What is it?" "It
looks nice." "Where did you get the picture of the bird?"
I responded that it was in a constructed language, and more questions came
up. "Translate it for me." "This first character, what is it?" "What does
it have to do with birds?"
So, well, yes. Now, at least my parents know what it is and what it looks
like. I think that before now they thought it was just a script or
something for writing in English. Anyway, it's nice to know that your works
aren't being ignored by everyone ;)
