That's not necessarily the case. Sitting down and sending a few emails is one thing. But as far as languages go, many of us (myself included) work primarily on paper. Finding the time to sit down and type up entire notebooks' worth of grammatical rules and vocabulary is another thing entirely.

See above. It's very possible, I would venture perhaps even common, to have a web page up with, say, only 500 words on it, but to also have a notebook with, say, 1500 more words on it lying around, which you just haven't had the time to type up. Your language's total vocabulary is still 2000 words, even if somebody looking at your web page only sees a quarter of those. Regards, Thomas
