Noam Chomsky has been a neo-Marxist political advocate and culture critic
at least since the days of the Vietnam Intifada. He's written numerous
political books and countless essays, and AFAIK continues to have many
speaking engagements on political subjects -- probably more than he does
in linguistics, at this point.
I've seen him more on TV than I have at linguistics conferences.
