Hehe, I heartedly agree with that list. I'd add among my favourites:
- Austronesian (yeah, a vast group I know ;)) . Among them, the Malayo-
Polynesian languages are my favourites. I just love trigger systems :))) ),
- Sino-Tibetan (a family with such variation among its members!! It's just
great! But I prefer the Tibetan rather than the Chinese branch),
- Korean and Japanese (whether they are related or not I don't know. But they
are both as cool as the other ;))) ),
- Eskimo-Aleut languages (polysynthesis rules!),
- Caucasian languages (how can you not like languages that allow onset clusters
of 8 consonants? ;))))) ),
- and last but not least: Celtic languages (my favourite group among IE
languages :))) ).
Of course, this list is limited by my little knowledge of languages. I'm a real
linguavore, and there's so much left to explore for me. <goes back to explore
the Ethnologue>
Christophe.
