Sensible of them. The iso date-standard is year-month-day, see the line starting with '*'. The good thing with dates like that is of course that one can use the same techniques on dates that one use on numbers, like sort them at a glance. Even a computer can sort them, newest first, by reusing the sort used for text. t.
