In X-SAMPA ' has never marked ejectiveness. The sign for ejectives is _>. ' is
for palatalisation! But X-SAMPA allows to use _j instead of ' for
palatalisation (what I do personally), so using the Kirschenbaum conventions
for stress is actually never ambiguous.
