Do you mean you don't say 'guv'ner' to mean 'sir' or whatever, or do you
mean the normal pronunciation of 'Governor' has three syllables?
(Oh, and Australians don't use rhyming slang either, except occasionally
dead'orse on a dog's eye (sauce (i.e. ketchup) on a meat pie). (My
personal opinion is that that isn't rhyming slang, but a description of
the taste. Apparently I gave up my Australianness when I made this
observation.) Nevertheless, they still insist on teaching it to us.)
