Actually, interesting thing with this:
I forwarded it to two people, one a "white" male, the other a "black"
female. Both had seen it before. One of them thought the poem wasn't
funny at all, and that it was racist. The other thought the poem was
funny, albeit a bit racist. Guess who was who.
The "white" person was the one who didn't find it funny at all. The
"black" person said that she found it funny--because she knows she
doesn't talk like that. I personally think that the "color" of the
person should not matter as to who finds it offensive. I am "white", and
I found it offensive for being racist. (I myself being a strong
anti-racist). I think the person who sent it should at least offer an
apology to all those who it offended (sent to the list, as matter of
course). I personally found the poem not very humorous. I go to a school
that is 60-70% african-american, and some of my better friends #are#
african-american. So Mr. Abrigon, please send an apology to the list for
posting something to it that we f{ou,i}nd offensible
So send the damn apology so we can stop having all these people yelling
at you to apologize!
ObConLang:
How do you all handle numbers, anyways? Like saying "I have 5 things"
or whatever? Would it be considered an adjective, or article of some
sort? I know Di^me'l uses base 16 numbers, but I'm not sure how to say I
have so many of an object, or even how to count above 10 (base 16)..like
would 11 be (ten)(one) or (one)(ten) or something else?
