This reminds me of the time I wanted to learn Hebrew.
Classmates said: it isn't spoken anymore,
why do you want to learn it, why don't you learn Ivrit?
About justifying your conlang: this is my standard answer:
"I can't justify."
Normally people are shocked and ask:
"Then why do you make languages?"
I answer:
"I just like it. Tell me one activity that's nicer?"
No matter what they answer, I just say
"incorrect, conlanging is nicer".
