Ah, thanks!  They unfortunately don't show any diacritics at
bibliogateway.com, and my knowledge of Greek is very limited.
(greekbible.com seems to encode all diacritics).

Ok, I will thus change my translation accordingly.

I am not sure about Luther's German translation, which has '... und
Gott was das Wort.'.  Interpreted in Modern German, it looks like the
translation was not correct, but then, German has changed and the word
order is more fixed now, so maybe it was only ambiguous at Luther's
times.  (Some parts of Luther's translation are near impossible to
understand with knowledge of only Modern German.)

Thanks for all the feedback.  I had not expected this much feedback on
this topic, but more like about my conlang.  Maybe next time, I'll do
'Es o non es.'  No religion, but Klingon drama.  But then, the Tower
of Babel is waiting, too.
